So im looking to get into airsoft im a long time paintball slinger and just sick of all the run and gun, spray and pray tactics that come with it. Also money is an issue airsoft is cheaper in the long run. I am 26 years old looking for a grp of players around my area I also know a few people who play ( backyard, woods) play with some of there friends. I am VERY new to airsoft and everything that comes with it i have read and learned some stuff I made a 70% on the test this site has XD The only guns I own at the moment is a pistol japan import so not sure of its FPS or maker and I just got me a AEG from the local wal-mart its a good starter AEG so far imho.so anywho if you are in or around the Hartselle area E-mail me at Valack3@yahoo.com and we can go from there.

Glad to have you join us. Alabama Airsoft Volunteers has two units. One is north of Anniston in Weaver and another in Birmingham. We both have weekly pickup games and monthly operations that have exceeded 60 people. There are many more teams around the state. Just a tip of advice though. Airsoft can be cheaper than paintball but this is relative to what you expect out of airsoft and what you already know from paintball. One truth is most people will spend more on gear than anything else. Ammo is not really an expense any if you can resist buying gear besides gun, hi-cap mag, camo and eye wear. Than airsoft probably will be cheaper for you. We try to car pool and this helps but gas is a factor for me but it still no where near the price of paint. I hope you find what you are looking in airsoft. I have a hell of a time and it great to have new players. mateba

Glad to see you here. There are plenty of guys from the Huntsville region too. Plenty of people all over...the big thing to remember is that airsoft is a internet-based community. I live in Talladega and my team is in Ohatchee. The net is how we have found all these other groups.
You don't need a team or anything like that as long as you can find games to play with others....and Dave's Combat Ranch in Weaver fits that bill! So if nothing else keep a check here and come on over to the ranch sometime!
Glad to see you here!

I had a blast playing with a pistol two weeks ago but I'd hold off on one until you are settled as a player. Pistols are usually used to compensate Minimum Engagement Distances. A normal AEG ~350+FPS will have a MED of 30ft which isn't but two car lengths, maybe three. I would save the money for a better gun but thats my two cents. If I were to buy a new gun I would follow two of three things
ver3 mechbo, apparently they are stronger than ver2 and they also have some nice conveniences. Common ver3 AEGs are AKs, G36s, and AUGs.
large battery, typically full stock gun only have them but not always
metal body, usually found on higher end guns but really are great. they aren't they most important though
Fitting all of these criteria points to an AK. If you don't like them then don't worry about it and get your favorite gun. I have heard good things about ECHO1. They have good FPS out of box, fixable and I think they have metal bodies.
Tokyo Marui and Classic Army are the two most popular and for good reason. G&P and G&G have also come out with some great guns. With that said most of the gun made by these guys will be $250-$300+.

Damn once again ty for all the info I was leaning with a G36 but after all that I might drop some of the extras I was looking at and just get a AK and PWN with it.Like Mr.Jackson said "AK-47 when you absolutely positively got to kill every mother fucker in the room accept no substitutes"
