okay I'm sure alot of the more seasoned airsofter know that we have external battery boxes that can go onto the ris rail of a gun available but what I'm am wondering is i see these things on real m4 weapons and i dont know what they do can any body explain what those"box thingys are" heres an example look at the top of this guys m4 you will see one of those black box things attached to the rail ignore the fake funny foam silencer thing that blows up i hate not knowing things

they are called a P.E.Q. box... and you put the battery in it if you dont want to wire it to the back... so its ok... but i would go with a full stock... bigger battery... no P.E.Q. box... they arent really that useful... but thats my two cents

the real AN/PEQ-2 has two beams one is like a laser pointer and one is like a flashlight but they can only be seen by infared.

The AN/PEQ-2 Target Pointer/Illuminator/Aiming Light is a laser sight for use on rifles fitted with a Picatinny rail. It has two infrared laser emitters: one narrow beam used for aiming the rifle, and one wide beam used for illuminating targets, like a flashlight. The beams can only be seen through night vision goggles. And no he is not retarded, it is a flashlight you use in night vision...

It's not a flashlight, It's an infrared beam, that "lights up" the target, similar to a flashlight but to see it you need night vision its for mostly night ops where NVGs are required to better aim the rifle

I thought it was general knowledge that infrared light was visible quite brightly through NVG's. Jeff and Tyler, HAVE YOU NEVER PLAYED SPLINTER CELL !!!??

b/c a real flashlight would give your position away to those NOT wearing nightvision. this is common sense here.

Corbins night vision scope that he had for a little while had an infared emitter. You cant use the cheaper stages of night vision (i believe stages 1 & 2 ) in zero light. They are used in low light situations so if your in total darkness you have to use the infared to brighten the darkness. You can put infared filters on some flashlights that inhance night vision, but people in close vicinity can see the light emitted from the bulb of the flashlight if it is pointed at them. They got shot when we used it in airsoft, it was Captian A's flashlight.
