We incorporated this into our team training so that everyone learns to run with each other efficiently.
The rules are simple....Everyman for him/herself until you make an arrangement with another player to "team" up. Each team can only have two members. The object is to elminate the remaining teams within the time limit. Usually 30 mins. Sounds simple, but if you're the guy that's stuck by himself...and have no idea where the remaining teams/potential Teammates are, it gets a bit nerve racking.
When you send everybody out make sure you either stagger their times or send them all in different directions. Also a 1 man team CAN NOT win. Which makes for very intersting game play when there's an uneven number.

How do you do the starting for a game like this? Require that everyone travel at least 100 feet before they hunker down, and release one or two people every couple of minutes?

We typically, let whoever's ready go accordingly. This helps motivate people to stop talking and get their gear on, as you learn real fast that you've got to be first. This is more of a drill game than a huge mission based. The best way to run it is to KISS it and see what works best for your team/field...great for up to 12 people.

Let me further explain my self. Its a great idea to learn to play with each other and get good as a team.I just meant if it was a competition to be the winning team by any means. Now if the rules stated only one partnership then yes my idea would be cheating and not cool at all.We did this type of game in paint ball and the winner got a new gun so it was anything counts. But yes as far as a learning tool its sounds like a damn good idea.
