On July 7, 1966, United States Marine Corps General Lew Walt led a joint U.S. Marine and ARVN force of 8,500 and 3,000 troops in a strike through the Demilitarized Zone. The goal of the operation was to thwart the North Vietnamese 324 B Division's efforts to take control of Quang Tri Province. The mission was a strategic success in terms of driving off the 324 B Division, but the NVA forces successfully withdrew across the DMZ. When the ease with which the NVA was able to move across the DMZ became apparent, the US military leadership ordered a steady build-up of U.S. Marines near the DMZ from 1966 to 1968.
The game scenario
Viet Cong and NVA forces will occupy key terrain features of the ranch. American and ARVN forces will enter the map, with the mission of destroying the defenders. Operation will run in four segments to maximize numbers in any engagement. Key terrain features must be captured by American and ARVN Forces, with the overall objective of cutting off the NVA and VC forces and stop them from crossing the DMZ. Maps and Specifics to follow
Now, if you are playing as NVA or VC, please dress in khaki or black. If not enough folks volunteer for VC, you will be assigned.
Americans, OD if possible, or woodland.
No weapons restrictions
Tp grenades and smoke munitions dependent on rain
On a team note, Chimp, our bro who had to move to Yankeedom, will be in town for a game, and mac, who has been ill, will be returning to play. Everyone, encourage your teammates to make this game, and if we haven't seen you in Weaver for awhile, try to make the game, it should be a good one.
