i have a name... task force dagger.I have nine people that is intrested in joining and thats probly all i will ever get. we should have learning days where the people ,like me, teach unexperienced players basic skills. and we should also camp out the day before the games at the combat ranch so we can get a strategy started.

Steel City Airsoft has formally been a group for about 3 months now. We have been playing together for almost a year though (some of us more). We have all been playing airsoft for over 3 years.
We attracted people by getting our friends to play with us, then getting them to save up for good guns (i.e. TM, CA, G&G, G&P, KJW). We also found guys on the internet in forums and social networking sites like Facebook (this is how we found Mateba and his gang). Once we felt like we had a good idea of who the serious airsoft players were in the B'ham area, we invited them all to come play with us at our field.
Once we did that and got a bunch of guys together, we decided we would create a core group to be Steel City Airsoft to compete in OP's with. This core group would be our most dedicated players. Right now that core group consists of 7 members: Me, Zac, Alex, Jackson, Steve, Joesph and Mateba. We have more people that play with us but they are not serious enough to be official Steel City members. (Nick is an up and coming member though).
We have created certain (not too strict) guidelines for choosing who can and won't be members, and we have written those guidelines down. They consist of things like: 1)Honesty 2)General Understanding of Airsoft 3)Experience 4)Personality 5)Some Skill but not the most important by any means
They are not strict though and we are willing to bring others into the fold from the ground up. We have all had people do that for us and we want that for others as well. As long as they are NOT super tightfisted.

We have been around for a year, and pretty much look for folks that hold the same things dear, ie fairplay, sense of fun, commitment to the team and helping out, and pretty much that is it. We want folks that fit with us, but other than that, no uniform requirements, no gun restrictions, just the want to have fun.

Frijole has hit the nail on the head. Share the idea of airsoft with your friends first. You know you will get along with your friends so thats a good place to start. Then once you and your friends have a solid group, reach out to others in your school. And it just kinda snowballs from there.

Just because I like to beat a dead (English) horse. I've been watching this thread and the only thing I'd request, PLEASE capitalize your I's!!!! Seriously, your killin' me with it! And there is a spell check button at the bottom of the reply window. That being said.... Your initiative and energy are admirable! But, initiative + no direction = a whole crap ton of lost time and energy. Listen to Frijoleluna. Mongo, and that other guy (I'm terrible with names!), organization and professionalism will attract others to you like ants to a picnic! Be willing to have fun, but at least decide what "feel" your going for first. Do you want a super leet mil-sim squad, or a more down-home group of friends? Thats what I love about TFAT, we're friends first, a team second, and a mil-sim level is the next step (F.A.S.T.) for those looking for a "little more". Since your just starting, I'd HIGHLY recommend you work with a core group (about 3-5 people that are committed as you are) in a team building aspect. After that, you have your 3-5 squad leaders that can train their own peoples. That is if your looking to get big. But, #1 is team! Make sure you know your guys (or girls) strength. Personally, I suck in a group, I get around people and choke. I'm a good flanker and support for a main assault. My wife excels at a "second in command" role and works very well in a squad. Her mind works tactically, in a broad spectrum, mine works on the currant situation, focused on a single objective. Swap our roles and disaster will ensue every time. Last but not least, check this link: www.opsecairsoft.com/static.php?op=archiveThese guys know what they are talking about, check out the "airsoft team" pod-cast. A-lot of there podcasts are over a hour long so be prepared to sit a spell. I hope I helped, if not, you can reserve the right to hit me with a stick when we meet! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Good advice Tripps...The only thing that scares me is that you posted that at 2:14 in the morning. And another scary thing is I see you EVERYWHERE there is an airsoft forums. This sight, TFAT forums, airsoft retreat. Your wife said you were on all of them when we were down in Mobile, but I didnt know she meant it literally.
