Just wanted to thank everyone that came out for the game. Yall were a great bunch! Hope the food was ok with everyone. Since it's the holiday season we decided to have a bit of a feast. Don't expect quite as big and varied a feed for our regular games. We did over cook by quite a bit but we have a big freezer so we will be eating on leftovers for a while! Like into the new year I suspect. Those that didn't camp over to Sunday missed a second feed! We reheated stuff and had Sunday dinner on the new picnic table. A full belly was had by all. ;D Lost and found department: To however lost a pair of jumper cables, we found them. Hope everyone had a safe trip home. Happy holidays! Dave

To all making the grenades for use at the game this weekend, The wild life (and land owner) here at the Weaver Combat Ranch would really appreciate it if ya'll would use popcorn, peas or other dried foodstuffs for the grenades. Don't use that coated with pesticides that is meant for planting but rather that from the grocery store intended for eating. Tis cheaper than BB's and far more biodegradable. Thanks, Dave and the many small furry and feathered critters at the ranch.

Mongo and I talked today about when we are serving food, and with as many folks as are gonna be here I don't see any way to do a noon feed. The game is susposed to be over around 4 to 4:30 pm so we are planning to serve then. Hope this is ok with everyone.

Boo, Glad you liked it! I enjoyed talking to Mr. Boo also. Am gonna have to get some corn grits and try cornbread made with them vs cornmeal! Sorry about the way the cornbread I made in the mud oven turned out. Temp just didn't get hot enough all the way through. Gonna tear that one down this next week and hope to have another one up and going by next game. I still want to cook pizzas in a wood fired oven in under 3 minutes! Later, Dave

Sorry dude, even if you were a bit closer wouldn't be any way. Gonna be 2 more days of cooking to get to the point of serving. I think it will be worth it though. The 2 and a half gallons of potato and onion soup simmering on the woodburner is working on my tastebuds as I type. And the two crock pots full of chili is adding a bit to the mix of odors too. Should be a good feed. Just hope we will have enough for all! ;D

By the numbers given so far it looks like 40 eating. We bought food today and will have enough to feed between 50 and 60 should there be more coming in that want to eat.
Menu is as follows:
Burgers - 1/4 lb meat each in uncooked state. Made with 80% lean ground chuck. Grilled over charcoal the day of the event. Buns, Mayo, Regular or spicy brown Mustard, Ketchup, sliced onions, pickles, cheese.
Hot Dogs - Boiled prior to the event. Grilled over charcoal day of event. Buns, above toppings.
Chili - Cooking now. Canned but with added corn, onions, and a few assorted spices. Tobasco will be available for those wanting it hotter.
Potato and onion soup - Just started cooking. Potatoes, onions, celery, a range of spices, some beef broth and a long simmer till done.
Potato, onion and carrot bake. Potatos, onions and carrots and a bit of celery, parsley, basil, salt, pepper, and a coating of olive oil. Baked until tender.
Baked beans - For these I start with baked beans from the can then add several stirps of crisp cooked baccon, a couple of spoons of the baccon grease and brown sugar to taste. A few assorted spices and simmer for a few hours till just right.
Macaroni and cheese - Again from the box but with some added cheese, some salsa and dairy fresh milk makes it a bit different. One pan will be plain and another will have some sliced hot dogs mixed in.
An assortment of potato chips.
Iced canned sodas.
Hope this will be OK will everyone.
Dave

Added another fridge just for the game. Hope that will be enough! So far I am counting either 21 or 22 that have posted on here, any others want to eat? If for whatever reason you can't post on here, then email me at depatty@fake-gmail.com (without the fake-) and let me know. Thanks, Dave

Hi all,
Sorry for not posting sooner but been down with the crud for the last 10 days or so. Starting to be able to think again so must be coming out of it...

Will cook the cornbread and hoe cakes tomorrow. The above with assorted crackers and drinks is the lunch menu. Cost will be $4.00 per person.
For supper we are serving: baked chicken leg quarters; hamburgers; hot dogs; whatever soup and chili that is left from lunch; rice; baked potato, onion, carrot, celery medley; baked beans; chips; drinks - sodas. Cost $6.00 per person for all you care to eat.
As of now it looks like about 35 total eating. If you plan to eat, PLEASE let us know, either here or email me at depatty@gmail.com.

Okay folks, Dave of Dave's Combat Ranch here. We are gonna have food and drinks available on Sat. or gonna try real hard. Got a camper moved in just across the creek and have one 10 x 20 tarp on one side put up for a food prep and cooking area. The other side will be the same but will be an eating area with at least three tables and chairs. Still got to get the power hooked up and lights installed but hope to get that done before yall get here.
Hoping to have at least grilled burgers and hot dogs with baked beans, a potato dish of some kind, along with mac and cheese, chips, and other assorted munchies. We will also have some fruit bars, sodas, and orange gateraid for sale.
We are still looking at the cost of all this, but are hoping to be able to do $5.00 for all you can eat and drink per person. Gateraid, canned sodas, and assorted munchies will be priced separately.
Questions, suggestions, and recomendrations, welcome and requested.
Dave
