I'm thinking about upgrading my Ca m15a4. I know I want a tightbore barrel, an upgraded spring and a bigger battery. I'm not sure what else I'm gonna get yet (probably replace the cylinder, cylinder head, piston head, tappet plate, spring guide, and air nozzle). I think that should do it. I doubt I need to replace the gears, though the idea of putting torque up gears and a systema motor in the thing is very tempting. That will all have to wait. For now, a 120 spring and a 9.6v battery, then the barrel and cylinder upgrades to increase accuracy. I might, also, change the hop up.......
Any suggestions on which company I should go with for the parts?
I'm thinking a PDI120 spring, a Prometheus tight bore 6.03 inner barrel, and a cylinder set (not sure from whom, yet). That should get me rocking, along with a 9.6v batt and a quick charger.

all I have done to my CA M15A4rifle is instal a sytema m120,and remove the fuse. after the spring upgrade I have to use a 9.6v. those barrels are good. as far as the other internals, I would wait till somthing goes wrong in there, the stock hopup is fine, gears are fine, ect. if it ain't broke....

I'm going for extended range (not concerned with the power of the gun), hence the tight bore barrel, etc. As far as broke, you're right- but I can always keep all the parts I replace for use when the new parts break or wear down.

the more power you have the more range you will get. replacing the spring for brute power, or you're other air related internals for better compression will both give you the results you want. I have been wanting a tight bore for mine as well,a tight bore will improve power and acuracy. which AEG do you have; carbine or rifle, I assume the latter. otherwise I have seen where some extended there barrel by using a moch silencer, and extend the inner to the end of that silencer. one of my team mates is about to do that with his spare CA CQB.
if you do have the rifle whats the ser. #? mines 004811, I suspect they sell much less of these. I'v seen some carbines way up there in number.

I have the rifle version (I'm too big for anything smaller, really, and I love my m16 when I was in the Army). Serial number 006660, which is, frankly, awesome.
Yeah, my first order of buisness is new piston head, maybe piston itself (which could mean a new sector gear), spring, spring guide, and a tight bore barrel. I think the cylinder would be fine- I'll do some research before a commit to that piece.
I'm thinking a 120 spring, a tight bore, and a 9.6v battery are gonna be my first three purchases, along with 3-5 mid-cap mags.

Not sure, I looked through eHobby Asia and didn't find any.
I'd start looking with Google or Yahoo and go from there.
If there aren't any, yet, there probably will be eventually, I'm not sure how new mid-caps are.

from what I can tell there aren't yet. mp5, m4, and g36 so far. other manuf. have mid caps avilible but nearly the price of the hicaps. we have started using them because alot of these events like operation Irean require you use lo or mid caps. we all carry m16 variants so we can share mags on the field. these are solid, and cheap.

I'm all about the "smarter not harder" upgrade (i.e. higher fps through better compression). From my experience the CA cylinder/piston head relation sucks. I'd go for the piston head&cylinder and maybe a 120 spring. That should net you about 450 with a tight-bore. Less wear and tear on your motor/piston too!
*side-note* if your going for a brute force approach to your M(insert number here), look into the TK twist barrels. Over 400 fps is supposed to get you amazing accuracy results. My experience has only been with the sniper rifles though.

I'd stay clear of torque up gears, as they are not fun to install. They require modification on the mech box. The half tooth piston...just weirds me out. I bought a set at one point, with piston. I sold them quickly. I have not seen any increase in distance out of my m14 by installing a tightbore. KN Titainium. Granted my groupings are roughly 15mm closer together, but increased range...not so much. I've seen tons of guys buy tightbores over the years...and not one time did I go...damn that made a difference.
By a CA Boreup kit, M120. FPS will be roughly 425 or so.
