Need some help with a story I'm writing

In the story the character is an airsoft player. Someone asks him what is airsoft. He explains what it is to that person. What I need from you guys is a brief explanation about it. Who what when where why how, that kind of thing. I looked it up on Wiki, and I don't need that much information. Just something I can put into the story to introduce the sport to the person, and also to the reader! ;D

The very short Version:
An airsoft gun is a 1 for 1 scale replica that shoots 6mm plastic BBs. The sport of shooting that gun is Airsoft, and it all started around 1980 in Japan.

The asshole version:
This is an airsoft gun. [[Shoots the listener]]. That was an airsoft BB, it's plastic. What I did to you, was playing Airsoft. [[Continues to shoot the listener]].

Two guesses which one I prefer, and the first guess doesn't count.... ;-)

Listener sais "That didnt hurt too bad". shoots him in the eye , now what did you say did i hear you say that didnt hurt again. unloads a full drum on his ass. sits there in agony while you reload the drum.

What about something like this:

Airsoft is a recreational sport where teams of players try to accomplish military style objectives by shooting each other with plastic bbs. Typically each player is dressed in military style gear and the airsoft guns are 1-to-1 scale replicas of military weapons to add to the realism. There is a great deal of emphasis on safety, honor, and fair play that creates an atmosphere of enjoyable fellowship.

I tend to write in a formal tone but maybe this will help get you started.
