I thinks its a few different things like range, clip size, bolt action.I'm sure many things play into it.I would look into it more from a military point. When I was taken a military shooting class(Thanks to my uncle) I was a sharp shooter with a rifle and I had a marksman rank with pistol but that was about 6 years ago I'm sure Ive gotten worse seeing as how I haven't handled a real gun in that 6 years sad to say.

A DMR is somebody that works with a squad with a highly accurate gun (any thing from a sniper rifle to a long gun with a tightbore).
A sniper works solo or with one other person (usually with a automatic for those "duck and run" situations).

makes sense so in real life a designated marksman would use a m16 or anm14 while every one else uses m4s ?

At a AAV fields we consider a DMR to be any airsoft gun that is shooting above 415FPS. If that person has a motor-driven mag they can play as a SAW. They are limited to 460FPS, 100 foot MED and they have to complete sniper school. They main difference for us is, snipers have bolt-action guns while DMRs are semi-auto. A bolt-cation sniper can shoot up to 600FPS.

Tripps summed it up correctly!
I know I watch many times when a player works with his squad as a marksman and everyone says...."good shot sniper!" That is a DMR.
A sniper does the stalk....looks for that one shot......and in airsoft generally dies shortly there after....not a whole lot of 800m shots in arisoft!
