November, I apologize for my last post. It was uncalled for. I was just reading through the thread and got angry. Im normally the cool headed one, but I always get riled up debating. I hate to promote bad feelings and I would not have posted that if I had stopped and calmed down for a few minutes. The character and the character of my team and how people see us is very important to me (it might have been at OP ID where I was accused of cheating and I made sure I got it straightened out before I left because I didnt want people to think of me as a cheater - apparently I was mistaken for someone else who was not calling hits that day), and I dont want anyone to think any less of us or me for what I posted. Like Ether said, we always have a good time playing together or against one another and I would like that to be the same for everyone else. So again, sorry.
On another note, I agree this is better debated in person. That way if we disagree with each other, we can just fist fight about it until everyone agrees with each other. ;D

I wasn't really that offended, it's just old wounds...(so to speak) But don't worry, if I was to get my panties in a bunch over a freakin forum I need to SERIOUSLY re-evaluate my priorities.
On the topic of joules, the last time you guys came down we had a "joule o' meter" select the weight, and fire. Much more accurate system, and a little cheaper then your ordinary chrono.
Seriously, I've never played the at Weaver field, and probably never will. I will probably never attend one of the meetings. Hell, I don't even live in Alabama! But my teammates and friends do. That's why I feel a need to "chime in".
Really guys, I'll take a 2 out of 10 600 fps. shots at 100 ft. vs 144 out of 720 at 460 fps. any day. And quite frankly, I'd like to think if I ever did play your field my $800 rifle would still be effective vs a heavy gunner...
And the old crusty ones haven't said the first word about full face masks that I know of.

It was more of a "I'm done with this topic" thing.

Okay it seems to me now that the bulk of this discussion right now is mainly about fps and med. (full face protection seems like it will end up a personal choice)
As a brief time away from those two topics....are there any other sections of the guidelines that should be discussed?
Not saying to get away from those two points...because they do relate to safety which is the first priority in my mind for the game...but rather as something else to discuss away from this for a brief time.
Also, I think we should point out that while originally Ben, Mateba, and myself were PMing about having the first rules meeting somewhere else to allow other groups from around the state in on it as well (or rather easier access), I would say that we may want to re-visit that idea. Having it in Weaver is nice, but the others from around the state may enjoy just a meet at Oak Mtn state park with a pic-a-nik-a basket....or one of the other similar park areas around montgomery, cullman, etc...
I mean if it is for state-wide...perhaps we should make it more accessable for other areas in the state too...or move it around, weaver...then b'ham....then huntsville, etc...
what does everyone think about those two cents?

well i am kinda hesitant to post because i have only played a few games, but i would be playing under what ever rules are set up, so heres what i think.
1)fps/med
a) AEG-400fps, i'll give you 415fps, but NOOOOO higher(great point by some one, next is its only 424fps.....ect) and 30ft MEDs. as for cqb 350fps is the max, maybe face protection is needed.
b) snipers-550fps at 50ft, but only to be used by trusted players who wont break the 50ft.
c) saw-never seen one so i can't say anything, but i think they should only be used by trusted payers.
2)other
a) bang bang rules- i have attempted to use these in paint ball games, and i found that the person you bang is likely to shoot you as you surprise them. so i don't think these will work.
b) and face protection are there any other options besides paintball masks? as pointed out by others, they get in the way.
i think the BIGGEST thing is being nice, and that you have to remember your running around in the woods with a toy gun.
but as i said i have only played a few games of airsoft so take this as a grain of salt.

Facemasks will always be a personal choice until insurance mandates it.
I have really said everything I can say about FPS and MED here guys. You will have to decide on your own. If you have a game when I am off a weekend I will try and make it out and talk to some of you guys in person. I like your field and I really hope things go well over there. If it matters at your next meeting which no I can't make due to work I stand behind the FPS and MEDs I listed that GA goes by. bang out rules/surrender rules can be worked out it seems.
Rook~ Don't worry about it man. I didn't see what you posted I went to bed as I get up on days I work sometimes at 3am. We all post things occasionaly that are wrong or that we have to retract it shows how big of a person you are to do so. Hard for me to get offended as I did not see your post.
I do not intend to take over your party guys or squash your fun. I was simply sharing some experience and opinion with you. I will keep up with these forums in the future though.
